Scarlet Fever
We woke up to Drew looking like this:
Swollen & a sandpaper texture rash all over his body.
He had cold-like symptoms & 4 teeth coming in for several weeks. Usually I'm the first to take the kids to the Dr as soon as any illness appears. This time, I was proud of myself for waiting it out (his green nose was turning clear). Then he wakes up like this!
"The Mother of the Year Award goes to..." NOT ME!
Diagnosis: Scarlet Fever!
My heart dropped. I had heard the name, but couldn't remember all the details. Sounded serious! I guess it used to be, but totally treatable now w/antibiotics.
Basically it's a Strep Throat infection followed by a sandpaper type rash & fever.
Poor kiddo :(
But like most kids w/illness, he's still a pretty happy kid!
